In the session, David discussed the skills gap challenge for our industry and emphasised the need for continuous learning and development in the technology sector.

He then went on to share valuable insights about how Concentric has benefited from collaborating with Keele University students and graduates, highlighting how talented computer science graduates have transitioned into key roles within our Support & Managed Services team. By providing structured internships and hands-on experience, we have not only helped graduates develop essential skills but also strengthened our workforce with fresh perspectives and technical expertise.

He also outlined some of the placement projects which Keele interns had been working on. One such project included, investigating use cases for machine learning and AI in route profitability models for a large multi-national bus group.

For businesses considering a placement programme, the benefits are clear: access to motivated young professionals, innovative ideas, and additional resources to support growth and operations. Investing in graduate talent doesn’t just fill short-term gaps - it builds a pipeline of skilled employees who can contribute to long-term success.
