Concentric ‘highly commended’ for efforts in scaling up
It was a great honour to be recognised alongside a number of high achieving businesses across Staffordshire at the Keele Breaking the Mould Awards on Thursday 19 October 2023.
Hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, the awards ceremony held many surprises, including musical performances, locally sourced ethical food and drink, and inspiring stories of local organisations making a difference in the area.
The Breaking the Mould Awards shine a spotlight on the growing innovation-led organisations, businesses, not-for-profits and charities that have benefited from the suite of innovative support programmes available from Keele University. The ten award categories are:

- Cultivating Talent
- Leading Innovation
- Entrepreneurial Student of the Year
- Digital Futures
- Going for Growth
- Keele University Science and Innovation Park Company of the Year
- Collaboration of the Year Award
Concentric was delighted to be nominated for two awards: Going for Growth and Collaboration of the Year.
“I was proud to have our firm recognised again, this time in the 'Going for Growth' category where Concentric received a 'Highly Commended' award as a runner up,” says managing director David Watson. “We have dedicated a great deal of resources to driving business growth and scaling up over the past few years, creating many high-value job opportunities for the area.”
David was joined by several colleagues from our support and managed services team, including Keele graduates Jeffrey Tan and Sara Amzil who joined us to work on customer projects involving AI and machine learning.
Vice-Chancellor of Keele University, Professor Trevor McMillan OBE, commented: “The calibre of nominations received for this year’s awards was very impressive, with so many remarkable and inspirational stories from all corners and sectors of our region. they have truly embraced the power of collaborative working and are a testament to the impact that partnerships between universities and enterprises can have on the local area.”
This year we also sponsored the Digital Futures Award, the criteria for which strongly aligns with our core business values and recognises organisations at the forefront of innovation in digital technologies encompassing development and application.
