Reflections on OneStream Splash Virtual — Aug 2021

In August we participated in OneStream Splash, an engaging virtual experience that brought together finance and technology leaders to explore where Corporate Performance Management (CPM) is headed.

A standout theme from Splash was OneStream’s preview of new built‑in Artificial Intelligence (AI) services and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities, unveiled during the keynote. These enhancements were designed to extend the power of predictive analytics directly within the platform — making intelligent forecasting more accessible to finance and operations teams without heavy reliance on dedicated data science resources.

These new capabilities aim to analyse vast datasets from internal systems such as ERP, CRM and supply chain environments, and even incorporate external data like macro‑economic indicators and weather patterns. The objective is to generate thousands of machine‑learning models in parallel, delivering transparent predictions that feed seamlessly into analytic models for demand planning, revenue forecasting, anomaly detection and cohort analysis.

"Our new built-in AI and ML capabilities will make intelligent forecasting accessible to finance and operations teams, expanding use cases outside of finance for Demand Planning, Sales Planning and Workforce Planning while increasing time to value for customers,” said Tom Shea, CEO of OneStream.

This announcement reflected the industry’s heightened focus on agile planning and forecasting at a time when finance teams were navigating unprecedented uncertainty. The enhancements underscored how embedding AI/ML directly into CPM workflows can help teams accelerate insight, increase confidence in forecasts, and expand value beyond traditional finance planning into operational arenas such as sales and workforce planning.

Even in a virtual format, Splash offered a valuable platform to hear expert perspectives and peer experiences, reinforcing the momentum behind unified, intelligent planning platforms. For organisations looking to advance their planning and forecasting maturity, the innovations previewed at Splash 2021 foreshadowed a new era of data‑driven decision‑making within CPM.
