Webinar recap: key takeaways on integrating your SAP landscape with OneStream
As organisations continue to modernise their finance functions, integrating SAP with Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) platforms has become a key consideration.
In our latest webinar, Integrating your SAP landscape with OneStream, Simon Bell, Managing Director of SiBCS (part of the Concentric Solutions Group), explored how organisations can build a more connected, scalable and future-ready integration strategy.
Here are the key takeaways from the session:
Business drivers behind modern integration are changing
We all know finance teams are under increasing pressure to deliver faster reporting, improve data quality and support more informed decision-making. As technologies such as AI and advanced analytics become more widely adopted, having timely, trusted and well-governed data is becoming essential. Simon explained how reducing manual processes and increasing automation not only improves efficiency but also enables finance teams to respond more quickly to changing business demands.
First priority should be to evaluate integration maturity
Rather than aiming for a highly sophisticated integration from the outset, organisations should view SAP-OneStream integration as an evolving journey. Starting with reliable data extraction and transformation processes provides a solid foundation, before progressing towards greater automation, larger data volumes and more advanced capabilities such as drill-through to underlying SAP transactions.
SAP’s tech landscape is still evolving
The webinar also explored SAP's evolving technology landscape, including the transition from ECC to S/4HANA and the growing role of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). Simon explained how Business Data Cloud brings together technologies such as Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), Data Intelligence and the Business Technology Platform (BTP) to provide a governed environment for managing and orchestrating data across SAP and non-SAP applications.
There are three core integration approaches
Attendees were introduced to the three primary integration approaches available to organisations: direct integration with SAP source systems, staged integration through BW or Datasphere, and hybrid integration, which combines both methods. Simon also demonstrated how OneStream's Smart Integration Connector (SIC) provides flexible, no-code connectivity across the SAP ecosystem, allowing organisations to select the most appropriate integration approach for their requirements.
